# Enroll your iPhone or iPad in Microsoft Intune

# 📱 Enrol Your iPhone or iPad in Intune

||| **Estimated time:** 15–20 minutes

There are two situations. Check which one applies to you before you start.

| Situation | What's happening | What to do |
| ---- |
| **1. New device** | You have a new iPhone or iPad still in the box, or one that has just been reset | Follow **Situation 1** below |
| **2. Device is in our old system (Meraki)** | Your device is already in use and managed, but by Meraki instead of Intune | Follow **Situation 2** below |

||| **Not sure which one you are?** If the device shows the **Hello** screen when you switch it on, you're in Situation 1. If it's a device you already use every day, open **Settings → General → VPN & Device Management** — if you see a **Meraki** or **Systems Manager** profile, you're in Situation 2.

# Situation 1 — New device: set up from the box

Your device enrols into Intune automatically during setup. There's nothing to install afterwards — just follow the setup screens in order.

## Before you begin

| Requirement | Details |
| ---- |
| Account | Your work email address and password |
| MFA | Your phone or Microsoft Authenticator app for multi-factor authentication |
| Network | A stable Wi-Fi connection |
| Time | About 15–20 minutes of uninterrupted time |
| Power | The charger, in case the battery is low |

|| **Important** Do **not** use Quick Start to copy from an old phone. The device must be set up as new so it can enrol into Intune. If you have an old phone, keep it nearby but switched away from the new one until setup is finished.

## Step 1: Power on and choose your language

1. Hold the side button until the Apple logo appears
2. On the **Hello** screen, swipe up
3. Select your language

## Step 2: Select your country or region

On **Select Your Country or Region**, tap your country. This sets the date, time and currency formats.

## Step 3: Choose appearance

Pick the text and icon size that's comfortable to read — the default is fine for most people. Tap **Continue**.

## Step 4: Skip Quick Start

On the **Quickly Set Up iPhone** screen, tap **Set Up Without Another Device** at the bottom.

|| Do not place your old phone next to the new one. If you use Quick Start, the device won't enrol into Intune and you'll have to start over.

## Step 5: Connect to Wi-Fi

Choose a Wi-Fi network and enter the password. An internet connection is required for the next step.

## Step 6: Wait for activation

The device activates itself. There's nothing to tap on this screen — it takes a few minutes.

## Step 7: Remote Management

1. The **Remote Management** screen appears and shows that the device is owned by your organisation
2. Tap **Enrol this iPhone** (or **Next** / **Continue**)

|| Do not skip this step. This is what connects the device to Intune.

## Step 8: Sign in with your work account

1. Enter your work email address and password on the Microsoft sign-in screen
2. Tap **Next** and approve the multi-factor prompt if asked

## Step 9: Let it configure

The screen shows **Configuring iPhone** while it collects settings from your organisation. Wait for it to finish — your work apps and policies are applied automatically.

## Step 10: Set up Face ID and a passcode

1. Tap **Continue** and follow the prompts to set up Face ID, or tap **Set Up Later**
2. Create a device passcode — choose something you'll remember, you'll need it every day

## Step 11: Sign in to your Apple Account

Sign in with your Apple Account so the App Store, iCloud and Find My work.

## Step 12: Finish and check

1. Tap **Turn On Location Services** and complete any remaining prompts
2. When you reach the Home Screen, open **Company Portal** and check there are no pending actions
3. Open **Outlook** and **Teams**, sign in and approve any registration or notification prompts

| **Setup complete!** Your work apps and email appear automatically over the next 10–15 minutes as Intune finishes. There's nothing to install from Company Portal yourself.

# Situation 2 — Device is still in our old system (Meraki)

Your device is moving from Meraki to Intune. **You do not need to erase your iPhone or iPad.** Apple moves it across automatically and your apps, photos and data stay in place.

## Before you begin

| Requirement | Details |
| ---- |
| iOS version | **iOS/iPadOS 26 or later** — check under **Settings → General → About** |
| Network | A stable Wi-Fi connection |
| Power | Keep the device charged — it restarts during the migration |
| Time | About 10 minutes once you start |

|| **Running a older iOS version?** The automatic move isn't possible. Update to iOS 26 first, or contact the Service Desk — your device will need to be backed up and reset instead, and you'll follow **Situation 1**.

## Step 1: Wait for IT to move your device

Our IT team reassigns your device from Meraki to Intune and sets a **deadline** for the change. You don't have to do anything for this step.

## Step 2: Confirm the notification on your device

1. You'll get a notification asking you to confirm re-enrolment, showing the deadline
2. Tap the notification and choose to **start the migration now**

||| **Tip** You can postpone, but the notification repeats daily — and hourly in the last 24 hours. If you do nothing, the device migrates automatically once the deadline is reached.

## Step 3: Let the device restart and re-enrol

1. The device restarts on its own and shows the progress as it leaves the old system and joins Intune
2. **Nothing is erased** — your apps and data stay on the device
3. If you're asked to choose a Wi-Fi network after the restart, select one so the process can finish

## Step 4: Check that it worked

1. Open **Settings** — at the top you should see that the device is supervised and managed by your organisation
2. Open the **Company Portal** app and check there are no pending actions
3. Open **Outlook** and **Teams** and confirm you can still reach your work email and files

| **Migration complete!** Your device is now managed by Intune.

|| **Do not factory-reset your device** to try to fix a problem. Contact the Service Desk first.

---

# If something goes wrong

* **Stuck on activation or "Waiting for activation"** — check your Wi-Fi, wait a few minutes, then restart the device
* **You don't see the Remote Management screen** — you may have used Quick Start. Contact the Service Desk before doing anything else
* **Work email or apps don't appear** — stay on Wi-Fi and give it 10–15 minutes

# Need help?

Contact our Service Desk and include:

* Your name
* Device model and iOS version
* A screenshot of any error message
* The step where the issue occurred

||| **Tip** If you get stuck on a step, take a photo of the screen and send it to the Service Desk — it makes troubleshooting much faster.
