Recover Machine using Bootable Media


Welcome to this step by step guide on how to recover a machine with the Acronis Bootable Media


Requirements:

  • Company email e.g.: name@cloudconnected.nl.
  • Login details of your Acronis account.
  • USB Drive with Acronis Bootable media already installed.
  • Acronis Protection Plan registration code.


Booting up the machine with the Acronis Bootable Media.

We have to take a few steps before we can get started with the restore process. Please connect the USB drive to the machine And make sure there is a Ethernet cable attached before proceeding.


Step 1: Enter the bios of the machine that you would like to restore. Every manufacturer has different buttons you need to press after you have turned the machine on. HP machines use ESC. Please consult the manual of your manufacturer if you use a different machine.

Step 2: Go to boot menu and select the USB drive that you have inserted.

Step 3: The machine will boot of the USB drive. And will open the Recovery application of Acronis.


Preparations for the Recovery Process.

We have now booted into the Recovery Media. The next step is preparing the recovery.


Home Screen

Step 1: Register the bootable media with the Acronis Protection plan registration code. You can create this code in the Acronis dashboard when adding a new device.

Step 2: Fill in the code. You will be redirected to the same screen you were before once done correctly.

Step 3: Press on manage this machine locally.


The Recovery Process.

You will see the following screen displayed after following above steps. We will now perform the recovery process.



Step 1: Press on recover and select what to recover. A pop-up windows will show with a browse button. Press the browse button and select the personal folder.

Step 2: Select the email address that's shows up and press OK on the bottom of the window. Press cancel, If you have to fill in a password before you can access the Back-ups.

Step 3: You will see several device Back-ups. Select the back-up from the list that you would like to recover.

Step 4: At the bottom of the windows you will see a drop down menu for back-up contents. The current selected is volumes. Change that to disk and select disk 1.

Step 5: After you have pressed OK. You will see the following screen:



Step 6: The Recovery Drive will automatically assign the drive that will be recovered on the target machine. You can change this if you want to recover the Back-up to a different drive.

Step 7: Select Recover from back-up on the NT Signature option.

Step 8: Press OK. The recovery process will start. Please allow up to 2 hours for the restore process to run.


The recovery options menu will show handy features such as reboot after restore. Be careful with enabling this feature as this can break the machine where the back-up is taken from.



The last steps.

Once the restore has completed you can reboot the machine and the machine will boot up to the restored OS. We would like you to look at the universal restore manual that is also provided if the machine does not recognizes the Boot device.
