Setting up your Macbook for the first time
Setting up your new MacBook:
This manual will provide you a step by step guide on how to setup a new MacBook. This guide has instructions for 2 suites, Microsoft and Google. Please follow the instructions that correspond to the suite your using.
Prerequisites:
- New MacBook
- Logins for your apps (e.g. Keeper, Microsoft 365, Google Chrome)
- Company email address (e.g. name@cloudconnected.nl)
Step 1: Have you already prepared your old MacBook? If not, please go to this page and follow these important steps here. If you have already done this or if you didn't have a previous MacBook, you can ignore this step.
Step 2: When you open the new MacBook, first go through the "Out Of The Box Experience" steps until you reach the Wi-Fi settings. During the setup, you should temporarily connect to the company's guest Wi-Fi; only after the setup will the MacBook connect to the company-secured Wi-Fi. If you are not in the office, connect to your own Wi-Fi network.
Step 3: When you see the Migration Assistant page, you can skip it, as it may cause issues.

Next, you will see the user page where your name and email are already filled in for you. Here, you only need to create your own password.

Finally, you will be asked to set up Touch ID. You are welcome to do this as well.

Step 4: Once you are logged in to the MacBook, it will install any missing apps. The installation of all apps may take up to 1 hour. It is important that the MacBook does not go into sleep mode; you can adjust this in the settings.
Step 5: Once Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is installed, you can immediately log in with your personal company account. Chrome or Microsoft Edge will then bring all your data, such as settings and bookmarks, from your old laptop to the new one.

Step 6: Open the Keeper app once it is installed. Log in with your domain and then enter your company's Google account. If you are unsure how to do this, you can refer to our KB (kb.cloudconnected.nl). Under the "Keeper" section, you will find the guide "Keeper migration first login."
Keeper is automatically installed as a Google Chrome extension. You can find it below:

Keeper may then ask for approval to authorize a trusted device. If you have Keeper open on your old laptop, you can press "YES" there, and you will be logged into Keeper on your new MacBook. These steps also work if you have Keeper on your phone with the same account.
Instructions:
We have provided 2 sets of instructions for step 7 depending on what suite your organization is using.
My organization works with Google Workspace.
Step 7: Next, log in to Google Drive with your company's Google account. Once you have done that, you can find the folders that you synchronized on your old laptop in the Google Drive folder in Finder under the "Other Computers" folder.

My organization works with Microsoft 365.
Step 7: Microsoft OneDrive:
Next, log in to Microsoft OneDrive with your company's Microsoft account. Once you have done that, you can find the folders that you synchronized on your old laptop in the OneDrive folder in Finder.

Step 8: When you are completely finished, restart the MacBook. After that, you will receive a pop-up with FileVault asking you to enter the password of your account. Fill this in so that your files are securely stored on your MacBook in the event of theft or loss.

Once you have created the password for FileVault, you will encounter this notification. Here you can click OK and wait for the laptop to restart.
Step 9: Now that you have everything setup on your MacBook you can follow these last steps on how to return your MacBook.
