How to login in Teams as Gmail user when you are invited?





This guide will help you navigate through the process of logging into Teams using your Gmail account when you have been invited to join a team. Let's get started!



Requirements:


A Gmail account: This is the email you will use to log into Teams.
An invitation to join a team: You should have received an email invitation to join a team on Teams.
Microsoft Teams application: You can download the Teams application from the Microsoft website or you can use the Teams web app in your browser.

Accepting the invitation


To begin, you must first accept the invitation you have received in your Gmail.

Step 1: Access your Gmail inbox.
Step 2: Please navigate to the invitation email that you have received.
Step 3: In the invitation email click on "Open Microsoft Teams".



After this, you will be automatically redirected to a page in your web browser. Please follow the next steps.

Connect Gmail email address to Microsoft account


Microsoft may not recognize the email address. To use Teams, you need to link it to a Microsoft account.

Step 1: On the page, you will see the following message: "Looks like you don't have an account with us. We'll create one for you using name@gmail.com". Here, you can click on "Next" to continue.
Step 2: Now you will need to enter a password. You will need this for the next time you want to log into Teams with this email address. Then, click on 'Next' to continue.
Step 3: After that, enter the country you live in and your date of birth. Click again on "Next".
Step 4: An email with a verification code for account access will be sent to you. Please open this email and copy the code.
Step 5: Return to the previous window and paste the code in the appropriate field . If preferred, uncheck the box below. Click "Next" to continue.
Step 6: Follow the instructions to prove you are not a robot.
Step 7: Subsequently, you will be asked to accept the organization as a trusted party. Click "Accept". Your email address is now linked to a Microsoft account and Teams will proceed to launch.



Launching Teams


A pop-up window will appear where you will need to choose the type of Microsoft Teams. We will walk through this together to complete the process.

Step 1: Make the choice if you want to work with Teams in the desktop application or in the browser. For the purpose of this guide, we will proceed using the browser. Please select "Use the web app instead".
Step 2: Teams will now launch and you will be able to use the team to which you have been invited.



After following these steps, you have successfully logged in as a Gmail user when invited by an organization.
